After having to cancel a couple of competitions due to the weather, the Juniors finally got out on the course on Monday afternoon to play the Ward Trophy and August Medal. Despite poor weather conditions we still had a good turnout with 14 juniors taking part.

For this event the 18-hole division play for both the Ward Trophy, awarded to 1^st place, and the August Medal, awarded to 2^nd place. Lewis Foxall continued his good recent form, winning the Ward Trophy with an outstanding score and a personal low round of 72 gross, nett 60. Spencer Pickin came in 2^nd place, winning the August Medal, with a nett 64, gross 88.

In the 9-hole division it was great to see one of our new members taking top spot. Winning on her debut in the division was Sofia Brookes with an excellent score of 30 points, gross 50. 2^nd place went to Yvie Taylor with 22 points. Well done girls!

In the Short Course division, Jude Knight took 1^st place with an incredible 15 under par score of nett 21! Stanley Tipping took 2^nd place with a 6 under par nett 30. Both excellent scores.

Well done to all the juniors that took part in again less than ideal conditions.

We had another excellent turnout for the July Medal with 19 juniors taking part. Despite the difficult conditions and strong winds there were still some excellent scores.

Freddie Brazier followed up his excellent score of last week, with another great round of nett 58 (gross 105) to take 1^st place Albie Carter came in 2^nd place with a nett 64 (gross 106), one better than Spencer Pickin in 3^rd place (nett 65, gross 88).

In the 9-hole division, Archie Clacher followed up last week’s win with another 1^st place, with an excellent score of 28 points. In 2^nd place was Archie Knight on 24 points, one better than Toby Dawson in 3^rd on 23 points.

In the Short Course division, Conor Riley went one place better than last week, taking 1^st place with a 7 under par score of nett 29. Stanley Tipping taking 2^nd place with a 1 under par nett 35.

Well done to all the juniors for persevering in the testing conditions, some excellent scores from our winners.

On Saturday 24^th June our Club Captain, Mr Peter Cordon, hosted the Captain’s Prize for Juniors. The day was very well supported with 25 juniors turning out, which included 4 new members. All the juniors had a great morning and afterwards enjoyed a meal and prize presentation kindly hosted by the Captain.

Scoring across all 3-divisions was exceptional, with the 18-hole division being especially hotly contested.

In the 18-hole division Oliver Carter came in 1^st place, winning the Captain’s Prize for Juniors, with an unbelievable score of 52 points, gross 82. 2^nd and 3^rd places were separated on a back-9 countback after both boys posted 50 points! Austin Rogula coming in 2^nd and Freddie Brazier taking 3^rd place. The nearest the pin on the 4^th hole was won by Lewis Foxall.

In the 9-hole division, Archie Clacher came in 1^st place with an equally impressive score of 31 points. On his competition debut, Henry Smith came in 2^nd place with an excellent 24 points. Nearest the pin in 2 on the 7^th hole was won by Theo Dawson.

After going close a couple of times already, Stanley Tipping was our winner in the Short Course division with a 4 under par score of nett 32. Conor Riley took 2^nd place with a nett 33 and also claimed the nearest the pin in 2 prize on the 9^th hole.

Many thanks to the Captain for his generous support of the Junior Section, kindly putting on the prizes and food for the Juniors. All involved had a great day and there was some truly incredible scoring worthy of the day.

On Saturday 10^th June, the superb scoring from our Juniors continued as they competed for the Duncan Evans Trophy. Despite some significant handicap cuts the low scores keep coming.

In the 18-hole division, the top-2 positions were reversed from last time out with Albie Carter coming in first with an incredible 48 points! Austin Rogula coming in second with another great round of 45 points. Well done boys, excellent scores.

Freddie Brazier continues his good run of form in the 9-hole division, taking first place with 20 points. It was great to see all entrants in the short-course division under par, but it was Jude Knight coming first with an excellent 8 under par score of nett 28. Well done to all that took part.

Special mention and congratulations to Lewis Foxall, our Junior Captain, who moved up to White tees this weekend and posted two gross scores of 77. Fantastic effort, Lewis is now down to 8.0!

On Saturday, 13 of ours Juniors played the June Medal. Course conditions were great and the Juniors continue to return some superb scores.

In our 18-hole division Austin Rogula continued the great form he’s shown away from Leek GC, coming in 1^st with a nett 60 (gross 90). Albie Carter came in 2^nd with another excellent score of nett 64. Our Junior Captain, Lewis Foxall, again returned the lowest gross of the day with an impressive round of 80.

Our 9-hole division was short on entrants due to the holidays but this was won by Freddie Brazier with an exceptional 27-points and a personal best unadjusted score of gross 51. The short course division was won by Harry Marson with a score of nett 35 on a back-3 countback over Stanley Tipping. Congratulations to our winners and well done to all that took part, another great turnout and some excellent scores.
