Having retired from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service after more than 30 years' service, I have been a member of Leek Golf Club for the last six years. I feel incredibly privileged to have been invited to be the Captain of such a prestigious club.
I am confident that our new board of directors will oversee what is an exciting time of change. To bring us into the modern world of golf, where more people are playing – but fewer people are actually joining a club – it is especially important to me to encourage more families into our wonderful sport.
I am delighted to announce that my Vice Captain will be Kevin Perkins, a great friend of the club. Kevin is someone who has spared a lot of his own time to ensure the wellbeing of members remains the highest priority, and I look forward to working alongside him.
My primary goal this year is to continue to improve the condition of the course - which is already a high standard - and to ensure that we carry on being ‘Queen of the Moorlands’.
We have some very important dates for our diaries in 2020. I look forward to welcoming the Staffordshire Girl’s County Championship and on Friday 10th July until Sunday 12th July we have my captain’s weekend away at Oulton Hall, Leeds. It would make me immensely happy and proud to have as many people as possible join me on that weekend.
Our club chef is fantastic and I can't wait for you to join me in the 19th hole for some quality food and warming atmosphere over the next 12 months.
Whether you’re a beginner, looking to perfect that putting stroke, or someone trying to bring your handicap down, our on-site professional Greg is available to help players of all abilities. We have a range of packages to suit your individual needs, more details are available on the website.
In closing, I would like to wish all the members of Leek Golf Club an enjoyable year of golf and I look forward to seeing you all out on our stunning fairways.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
