Lady Captain's Charity Quiz Night

Quiz Night

Thursday 14th June saw 14 teams go head to head in the Lady Captains charity quiz night.

Our own Jeremy Vine was non-other than Jayne Baxter who was assisted by her lovely husband Andy – who has spent the last few weeks researching the questions and answers.

The Lady Captains round was on TV soaps, I’m not saying the some of the questions were difficult but maybe a degree in the soaps would have helped some of the teams & I’m not just talking Palmolive!

Best in this round was Hotel Rudyard team – well done Rich I think you got most of these correct (mum Jen would be proud!)

Joking apart this was a fantastic night which raised £297 for my charities Birmingham Children’s Hospital and British Heart Foundation.

A massive thank you to Jayne, Andrew, the bar staff and everyone for your support

Past Captain Competition and Dinner (22nd May 2018)

The beautiful weather continues, and I had the pleasure of hosting the Past Captain Dinner.

It was lovely to meet the past Captains, some whom no longer play and catch up with their stories of long ago.

I also had the pleasure of speaking with the ladies on the telephone prior to the dinner who told some funny stories which I think I should keep to myself but what fabulous characters these ladies are!

After the delicious meal the winner was announced – with 73 points on count back was Dot Cowburn (pictured on the left with Me!)

The sun was shining at Leek Golf Club on Thursday 12 April for the Lady Captains Charity Fashion Show. Around 110 ladies supported this event and a total of £905 was raised for the British Heart Foundation and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

A big thank you to Leek Golf Club for hosting the event and to Karen and Tracey of “Bamboo” for their hard work in allowing us to showcase their Spring/Summer collections.

The compare of the show was Lisa Davies who did a fabulous job.

“Little Luxuries” were on hand to give advice on skin products.

Once again thankyou to everyone who supported and helped to raise this fantastic amount, not forgetting our gentlemen members for their generosity too.

The aspiring Elle McPhersons are pictured. (Lindsay Shea is missing from this photo - where did you go?).

Thanks to Tony and the bar staff (how did you cope with all those ladies), everyone who donated a raffle prize and to Karen and Janet who sold ALL the raffle tickets. If I have missed anyone, please forgive me. WHOOPS thank you to the models.
