Lady Captain's Farewell

Tuesday 16th October was my farewell and also the last ladies competition of the summer.

I promised myself NO TEARS!!

The ladies took to the course for what is traditionally a stableford format. The weather was damp but no rain.

The club house was transformed to a far away place in Italy, yes Mamma’s kitchen was in full swing with the smell of fresh garlic and pasta. Even the tables were decked with check table cloths, washing hanging on the line and was it really Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma? Yes Italy had come to Leek Golf Club.

53 ladies sat down to a taste of Italy thanks to our very own chef Adam "aka GINO" Hudson. Even the bar and catering staff embraced the theme and were dressed as gondoliers . The meal and service was a credit to you all. Thank you.

The presentation of the Winter League, medals and team competitions concluded the night.

A massive thank you to you all for your continuous support. (I could not have done it without you). Special thanks to Lisa Davies, Karen Wilshaw Deb Barnett and Lady Vice Captain Janet Wood.

Lady Captain v Lady Vice Captain

The time sheets are completed names are down and all to play for in this annual competition. The toss of the coin decided the teams. The format individual match play. (The trophy donated by past Captains Deb Barnett and Nel Boulton).

As with tradition at the end of the game ladies enjoyed home made cakes, tea and coffee provided by Lady Captain and Lady Vice Captain.

It was nip and tuck as the results came in.

And the winners were...... IT WAS A DRAW!

Well played everyone and thank you for your continuous support.

Happy golfing throughout the winter months.

Lynne Ball - Lady Captain 2019

Gill's Great Win!

The new holder of the Mactier Cup is Gill Damjanovic. This County Golf Competition is open to qualifying players from clubs all over Staffordshire, and this year 27 clubs were represented. Of the 49 entrants, Gill came out on top with 41 points off a handicap of 27.

The prestigious competition held this year at Penn Golf Club in the South of the County, is open to both bronze and silver division players, with prizes for the winners of each division. There is then a prize for the best overall score and Gill was the winner. She said 'I am very thrilled and delighted with the win. I did play well. The course was tricky and I was nervous, but I kept my head down and really enjoyed the day. My playing partners from Beau Desert and Walsall were great company and we had a good time. It would be nice to do it again next year.'

The photograph shows Gill Damjanovic holding the Mactier Cup which she won at Penn Golf Club.

CONGRATULATIONS Gill from all at Leek Golf Club.

Lady Captains Away Day - Thursday 9th August 2018

27 ladies travelled to Davenport Golf Club in Poynton for My Captains Away Day. On arrival we were greeted to a warm welcome from Chris in the office.

An hour before the first group were due to play the heavens opened to this strange thing called rain!! However, we were blessed and before the first group had teed off the sky was changing to the beautiful blue colour we have been so used to seeing.

The courses was in great condition and a credit to the ground staff.

The half-way house was maned by my husband Pete and his partner in crime Joe Cumberbatch who were dressed in black tie attire serving Prosecco, strawberries and homemade cupcakes. They certainly entertained the ladies with their wit and charm.

The day was concluded with a beautiful meal, drinks and the presentation.

Winners

1st place Janet Harden 37 points on count back.

2nd place Hazel McCrady 37 on count back

3rd place Nel Boulton 35 points.

Nearest the pin on the 2nd Lisa Davies.

Nearest the pin on the 16th Jennie Flower.

I can not thank the ladies enough for their continued support and making the day so special with lots of happy and funny memories.

Lynne
