Lady Captain's Awayday - Monday 21st August 2017

Lady Captain’s Awayday – Denstone Golf Course

On Monday 21 August the Lady Captain hosted an awayday at Denstone Golf Course.

Finding Denstone proved a bit tricky for some ladies and finding Denstone College and the golf course even trickier but eventually everyone arrived and we set off (shotgun style) at 12.30 to play 9 holes.

The rain held off and some great scores were returned. Following an excellent cream tea at Denstone Farm Shop the results were announced – all very close.

1ST PLACE Hazel McCrady – 20 points (mainly due to Hazel’s new driver)

2ND PLACE Susan Watson on countback

3RD PLACE Pat Beeson (can’t remember the score but I am sure it was good)

Nearest the pin – Debbie Barnett

Lady Captain's Day - Tuesday 20th June 2017

2017 Lady Captain’s Day

A great day was enjoyed by the ladies’ section and our thanks go to the Lady Captain, Jenny Flower, and her very supportive family.

The overall winner was Ann Cockersole with an excellent 41 points. Ann wins the Lady Captain’s Trophy.

Other results on the day

Silver Division winner Jen Flavell (34 points), second Georgie Taylor(33 points), third Marion Lilley (32 points)

Bronze Division winner Wendy Marriott (36 points), second Myra Williams (35 points), third Ursula Smith (34 points)

The nine hole competition was won by Dawn Houghton with 22 points

There was an innovative competition on the third hole – hit the dot. This eluded most of the ladies but well done Jayne Baxter and Dorothy Tew who managed this task. Natalie White was nearest the pin on the 9th (163cm).

Congratulations to all prize winners.

LADY CAPTAIN’S FAREWELL

On Tuesday 18th October Lady Captain Pat Beeson held her Lady Captain’s Farewell competition, presentation and dinner. 32 ladies played, but due to torrential rain throughout the day, only a few ladies completed the course.

After a meal in the clubhouse, Lady Captain made the presentation to the brave and hardy ladies who were determined not to let the weather get the better of them – respect to them all. I will admit I only managed 11 holes before I was beaten!

RESULTS

Silver division:

1st Jo Peacock 36 points

2nd Marion Lilley 27 points

3rd Jennie Flower 22 points

Bronze division:

1st Dawn Haughton 32 points
