Tuesday 23rd July 2013 was planned as a team competition for the Ladies. The Green Staff are very busy during this week in the years calendar doing maintenance on the course So we have a fun team competition during this week. This competition is teams of three playing a Stableford Competition and the two best scores to count on each .
At around 5.30am there was an amazing thunder bolts and lightening storm (reminds of a song I use to listen to!) and the heavens opened. During the early part of the morning the rain still fell and the Ladies also fell by the wayside with none of the morning ladies braving the wet. However, some of the afternoon ladies decided to take the weather on and have a go in the competition. Actually only two teams played but let me tell you that it was extremely competitive. One of my team mates were heard to say the on the first tee " Right then, I haven't come here to come second" brave words indeed especially considering that her first tee shot scuttled off the tee down the bank near to the practice net! Not the best of starts.
The winners on the day with a very good score of 80 points were Nel Boulton, Wendy Thornhill and Deb Barnett and who are absolutely thrilled to have bragging rights over the team who came second with 78 points, and who were Dorothie Cowburn, Jo Peacock and Marion Lilley.
Thank you to the ladies that were able to take part on the day.
