Tideswell Trophy 2025

General Club Noticeboard : Tideswell Trophy 2025

The Tideswell Trophy is a long standing competition played between Leek and Westwood Golf Clubs. Unfortunately, the competition hadn’t been played for a number of years until it was reintroduced in 2023 by Club Captains Peter Cordon of Leek and Ian Sergeant of Westwood. This is now a major fixture between the two Clubs.
The format of the competition is run as 4BBB match play by a men’s team, a ladies' team and then a mixed team, all played over the course of the year.

The 2025 Competition results were as follows.
The ladies played their match with a fantastic result, Leek 3.5 points to Westwood's  . 5 points.
The men's result was Leek 3  points and Westwood 2 points.
At this point Leek were in a great position to take the Trophy 6.5 points against 2.5 points, before the mixed final was played on Friday 17 October at Westwood. There were 7 points up for grabs.
Leek only needed two points to win. However, in true Ryder cup style Westwood delivered an exciting competition finale and fought back winning by 4.5 points to Leek's 2.5.
The total points over the three matches played were Leek 9 points to Westwood's 7 points. What a fantastic finish to the competition.

The presentation of the Tideswell Trophy was made after a lovely meal.
Leek will keep the trophy for the next 12 months until next year's exciting return.

A big thank you to all the teams who played and to those who organised the competitions.
