On Thursday 15th August 2013 our Lady Captain Marilyn Boulton took us all on the Annual Away Day. This year Marilyn arranged a day out for us at Brocton Hall Golf Club near to Stafford. This Golf Club was founded in 1894 but was moved to its current location in 1923. The Course was designed by Harry Vardon and is a parkland course on the edge of Cannock Chase. It is a beautiful setting and is a challenging course to play golf on.
42 Ladies found their way to the course some having to take a detour or two! but we all managed to get there in time to have bacon baps and coffee before we took to the course. The weather was excellent, very warm indeed and the course was in fabulous condition. It is a truly beautiful setting. The competition was a very sociable but very competitive team of three with the two best scores to count. Some of us found the greens a tad tricky. My 4 putt on the third was not a highlight of the day for me. However, there were quite a few who had a better time than me on the greens and got the scores to prove it.
The Winners with a great score of 74 points were Lynne Ball, Lisa Davies and Joy Briggs. Second were Karen Griffiths, Pat Beeson and Sheila Woolley with 70 points and in third were Sandra Blairs, Pam Glaves and Janet Gilbert with 68 points. All the Ladies won very nice beauty products from the Lady Captain
Winners of a bottle of wine on a 'hidden' hole which they par'd were Maria Wootton, Ann Cockersole, Dorothy Tew and Doreen Cooper. The only Birdie of the day was won by Jennie Flower and the only Lady to par the Stoke Index 1 hole was Jenny Cordon who also won a bottle of wine.
The thanks of the Ladies Section go to our lovely Lady Captain Marilyn Boulton for organising and overseeing this fabulous day out. Thank you Marilyn.
