This prestigious event was hosted by us on Friday 9th May to Sunday 11th.
The winner and new Staffordshire Lady Champion is Emily Coleman of Trentham who beat her mother Julie Brown by sinking a twelve foot put on 18th green. Well done to Emily and congratulations to Julie not only for a successful championship but also for her recent achievement of becoming the youngest English Senior Women’s Amateur Champion. This is the first time that mother and daughter have competed in the final of the Staffordshire Championship. Some of our older members will remember Julie as a very successful junior member here at Leek.
The weather over the weekend was dreadful which oddly enabled us to enhance the high esteem in which we are already held in golfing circles, since despite the adversity we were seen to step up to the plate and see the event through to a successful conclusion.
The county officials were glowing in their praise for our organisation, hospitality and the exceptional commitment of our greens staff who on the final round swept away the water from each individual green prior to putting.
Well done everyone!
