The Senior Section held its annual Seniors Open on Friday 6th June 2014. The event attracts interest from players aged 55 years and over from all across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire.

This year there were players from 42 different golf clubs competing with a total of 94 pairs entering. It is great to see our Seniors Open so well supported with yet again another full start sheet.

The open is a Stableford Fourball Better Ball for teams of two and prizes were awarded to the first 5 places with 2 additional prizes for the over 70's outside of the top 5. There were also prizes for nearest the pin on the 7th and 11th and nearest the pin in two on the 17th plus a hole in one special prize.

The day was agreat success with over £500 being raised for charity. £250 will go to the Donna Louise Trust and £250 will go to Horton Lodge Special School in Rudyard.

I would like to say a special thank you to the following people:

Club Captain, Vice Captain, Lady Captain, Senior Captain, Seniors Committee, Senior Men helpers, Lady helpers, Club Professional, Jake, Jen and her catering staff, Tony and the other bar staff, Our Head Green Keeper and his green staff, Mike Barker and all other helpers.

Without your help the day wouldn't have run smoothly, THANK YOU.

The first group out was Tony Brindley, Ken Hewitt, John Isaacs and Chris French who are all members at Leek Golf Club. The time recorded was 4 hours 10 minutes which set the pace for the day.
