Past Captains Trophy & Centenary Cup Tuesday 11th June, 2013

Ladies Noticeboard : Past Captains Trophy & Centenary Cup Tuesday 11th June, 2013

Tuesday 11th June,2013 saw 39 Ladies playing in the Centenary Cup Competition, 12 of the 39 were also competing for the Past Captains Trophy.

The weather whilst not sparkling was, at least, dry and mild. Not a vest to be seen! However, we did have our waterproofs at the ready just in case.

The Past Captains played for their trophy and after play had a meal with some of our non playing Past Captains. This is always a lovely evening and this year proved to be no different. Our Present Lady Captain Marilyn Boulton was in the Chair and treated us to some very tasty wine to go with our meals. Who cares who won after that? Actually we may be the Past Captains but there is still a lot of competitiveness on show in this competition. The actual winner with a Nett 75 was Dorothie Cowburn, who was Lady Captain in 2000 and has had a long wait to win this trophy. Wendy Geston and Anne Cockersole also had Nett 75's but were beaten on a count-back. The general consensus around the table was that the course had proved to be very difficult to play and score well on. Little did we know that there were quite a few ladies who had had no such problem whatsoever.

The Centenary cup was won with a Nett 66. A brilliant score by Sheila Woolley and one which resulted in a dramatic and well deserved handicap reduction from 26 to 23. Very well played Sheila, many congratulations on a great score and win. The great scores didn't end there, Andrea Martin produced a Nett 69 and a Handicap reduction from 27 to 26, again a great score and very well done Andrea. Third was Karen Griffiths with a Nett 70, another very good score. Well played Ladies.Great scoring indeed.

Full scores can be seen at the howdidido website.
