Lady Captain's Farewell - Tuesday 15th October 2013

Ladies Noticeboard : Lady Captain's Farewell - Tuesday 15th October 2013

Tuesday 15th October saw the Ladies take to the course for the final competition of the golf season. The Lady Captain's Farewell is played as an individual stableford format. This format gives us all a chance even if we have a 'bad hole'. Some of us have more of those 'bad hole scores' than others! A large number of ladies played in this final competition of Marilyn Boulton's year of Lady Captaincy. Marilyn we salute you for a fabulous year, fabulous golf, even more fabulous weather and even more than that, a fabulous new Locker Room for the Ladies. Certainly a year that will stay in the memory for a long time. Thank you.

The course is in great condition. I seem to be able to say this week after week, so many thanks once again to the ground staff and Lincoln Boulton. There were a couple of temporary greens and a third did magically appear during the afternoon. However, we were not concerned about this as due to the third temporary green we made the competition a non qualifier and no one's handicap went up. There were a few cheers when this was announced so it would appear that there were more than me who hadn't played within their handicap buffer zone. Whilst the course is in great condition we are still finding it difficult to make great scores.

The Winners in the Silver Division were 1st Jayne Baxter with 35pts, 2nd Helen (Nell) Boulton with 34pts and 3rd Jennie Flower also with 34pts who unfortunately lost out on count back.

The winners in the Bronze Division were 1st Lisa Davies 34pts, 2nd Ursula Smith 33pts and 3rd Karen Wilshaw also 34pts but again losing out on a count back.

During the presentaion's this evening, prizes were also given that had been won earlier in the year. Our many thanks go to Carol Hollins and Chris Evans, Joan Clowes and Dorothy Tew and Ang Broadhurst and Gill Armstrong. All these ladies very kindly presented prizes to the winners of their competitions. We are extremely grateful to these Ladies and to those who over the years continue to give their support to the Ladies Section.
