This fixture teed off at 10.00am to accommodate the evening kick-off between England and Russia, so all were a little ‘jaded’ after the previous day’s exploits at the captain’s away day at South Staffs GC.
The run of inter-club wins continued, however, with a resounding 4½ - 1½ win over the Cheshire opponents.
The course was in superb condition, and all enjoyed the banter during the excellent meal afterwards.
Phill Davies was in brilliant form with five birdies (off the white tees) helping the captain to lead the way with a solid win.
The combinations of Mark Shea and Dave Fowler, Craig Stanier and Steve Longhorn, and Dave Toft and Tony Brindley all resulted in wins for Leek.
Mark Robinson and Bob Brunt lost with Rob Woolliscroft and Tony Lovatt halving their games.
The captain would like to thank everyone for playing, and supporting the club in this manner. To be fair it isn’t all about winning, even though some might argue this point!
