Friday 17^th January saw the first Quiz Night of 2025 and very successful it was too. Eleven teams braved the cold to support Mr Captain, Paul Douglas’s charity, Prostate Cancer Research. Andy Baxter delivered his customary enjoyable format of 8 rounds of questions on various subjects along with 3 ‘endurance’ rounds (picture + 1% Club questions) and a themed music round.

Gavin provided the usual comfort food beforehand and quizzers really helped with the new routine of booking tables prior to the day to assist with the table + printing organisation.

The winning team, pictured, (with 301pts) were “6 over Par” and were rewarded with bottles of wine along with the runners-up who were “The Odd Shaped Balls” (with 291pts). The strong support team, holding everyone up were “We’re All Going On a Summer Holiday” (with 226pts) and received commiseration prizes.

Mr Captain could not stop smiling as he received £422 from the entry and raffle monies along with the promised extra receipt of £126 raised from the pre-Christmas quiz. Totalling a magnificent £548 to be split between Paul’s personal charity (P.C.R.) and the traditional Captain’s Charity of the Peter Allis Wheelchair Fund.

Once again sincere thanks go to all who supported the night, and we’ll do it all again on Friday 7^th February 7pm for 7.30 start.
