Sunday 18th May 2014 saw 36 ladies take part in Mr Captain’s day for Ladies. Lady Captain's husband Dave Griffiths met a number of the ladies on the car park to transport trollies and carry bags. I for one could quite get used to this.
A putting competition took place on the practice green followed by photos on the first tee with Mr Captain Dave Gallimore. The photos were taken by Mr President John Carr. The weather was sunny, the first day in shorts for a lot of the ladies. The refreshments in the Millennium Hut on the 11th tee served by the Captain’s wife (Jackie) and the President’s wife (Wendy) were most welcome. After the refreshments there was a “Beat the Pro” challenge. A tube of Srixon balls was on offer for any lady landing on the 11th green closer to the pin than Greg. Little did Greg know that his stock of Srixon balls would be diminished by four ladies who rose to this challenge. Well done ladies what an achievement.
The Captain had certainly done us proud on this special day and the prizes were also extremely generous and we thank Mr Captain and Jackie and all concerned who made this a day to remember.
Captain's Day overall winner Joy Briggs 36 pts.
1st Silver Division Georgie Taylor 35pts, 2nd Karen Griffiths 32 pts, 3rd Paula Parkes 31pts.
1st Bronze Division Ursula Smith 35 pts, 2nd Janet Gilbert 31 pts, 3rd Pam Glaves 31 pts, on Count back.
The putting competition was won by Paula Parkes who had 15 putts over 9 holes.
The “Nearest the Pin competitions" on the 4th, 7th, 9th, and 13th were won by Dot Cowburn, Angie Broadhurst, Pam Glaves and Georgie Taylor respectively.

Congratulations go to all the winners and thank you once again to Mr Captain for his generosity and giving the ladies a fabulous day.
