Dave Alcock scored a stunning 63 net to pip Andy Baxter's 64, and qualified for the regional stage of this prestigious national event to be held at Little Aston.
119 players entered this first qualifying event in the 2011 men's calendar, and there were some excellent scores on a course benefitting from a bit of a tranformation over the winter period.
The greens staff under the guidance of John Turner and Lincoln Boulton have been working hard to prepare a superb putting surface. In addition, the bunker improvement programme has resulted in a need to 'think' your way round the course more than ever before.
Scores of note were:
D. Alcock 75 - 12 = 63
A. Baxter 75 - 11 = 64
I. Thorne 80- 14 = 66
D. Duffield 88 -22 = 66

The next competitive event is on Sunday 3rd April, when the April and RNLI Medal will be held. The newly-formed fixtures sub-committee has designated this as a stableford format, and is a direct response to members' requests to have more competitions of this nature.
