Lady Captain's Quiz Night - Friday 5th April 2024

On Friday 5th April I hosted my first Lady Captain’s Quiz Night.  It was a fantastic evening with 10 Teams taking part, many choosing to have a meal beforehand.

1st place went to The Laners with an amazing 224.5 points. They were presented with 6 bottles of wine. 2nd place went to Allsorts with 218.5 points for which they each received a box of chocolates.  The booby prize was awarded to The Googlers with a score of 168 points. They received a refund in the form of chocolate coins!!

I must thank Andrew Baxter and Jayne for organising and running the quiz, they do an amazing job! and Gavin and Maisie for all their hard work.

My raffle was drawn at the end of the evening and my sincere thanks go to Lynne Ball and Karen Griffiths for their brilliant effort in selling tickets raising £200 to add to the £100 entrants team fees making a total of £300 for my chosen charity Dougie Mac.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported my charity quiz, not only was it a great fun evening but a lovely sum was raised for such a worthwhile cause.

Ladies Past Captain's Trophy Competition - Tuesday 27th June 2023

The Past Captains’ Trophy Competition went well on the day. I introduced the evening by welcoming and thanking all the Past Captains attending and read the apologies from those who could not attend.

Chris Birch kindly said the grace. I refrained from telling too many bad jokes but couldn’t resist one or two. Everyone enjoyed the meal.

There was plenty of good-hearted banter around the table and later we discussed the decline in Ladies membership and possible ways to move forward. All those dining have a wealth of experience and ideas. It was good to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions.

The highlight of the evening had to be the prize presentation. I was delighted to present the prize of a sleeve of balls to Jennie Flower who had come in with a fabulous score of nett 63. Jennie will receive the Trophy on the presentation evening.

All the Past Captains present wanted me to convey their best wishes to ALL Leek Golf Clubs Lady Past Captains.

Thank you Lynne for giving us a day to remember.
