History
Leek is an old Market town which in more recent years has become widely known as a centre for the antique trade. The town also affords easy access to the surrounding Peak District National Park and the Alton Towers Leisure Park.
The Golf course has for many years been recognised as one of Staffordshire's premier courses. hosting excellent greens, which due to the many subtle borrows offer a real test of the golfers putting ability.
The Club celebrated its centenary year in 1992 having first being established on land on the opposite side of the road to the present location, relocating as a 9 hole course in 1897, before for reasons unknown, moving away for the period 1899 - 1922 following which the club returned 'hom' and the existing 18 hole layout was established.
In its early years the course was typical moorland with only very sparse tree growth but its development since the 1960's has produced tree lined fairways which are much appreciated by golfers for their lush playing qualities.
At the Leek Club Wednesday is identified as Society day and enquiries to the Hon. Secretary are welcomed for the use of the course on this day.
Visitors will find a warm welcome in the Clubhouse with full catering facilities being available while the Professionals shop offers a range of golfing equipment and accessories.
