It was a wet and winday Thursday in Leek for the May Extra Medal

CSS was 73 and no one broke par on the day.

Linden Davies topped Division 1 with a 72, A Leese led division 2 home with a 73, Syd Birch had the lowest nett wit a 71 to take the honours in Division 3 and R Samuel's 75 topped the Divison 4 table.

133 players took part in this competition, in blustery conditions, with the course playing long. CSS of 73 backed this up, due partly to only 4 people actually breaking par.

Highlight of the day was undoubtedly Stewart Townsend who achieved a 'hole-in-one' on the 13th. So strong was the wind in his face that

In this event the best 4 net scores or equal go into a knockout draw, the major winner being the one who comes out on top.

3 members achieved a net 67, 2 got 68's, 1 had a 69 and 8 triumphed with level par.

This draw will be done and posted in the usual location outside the match secretary's office.

The old saying of 'Ne'er Cast a Clout til May be Out' was very apt for Tuesday 1st May 2012. The day was damp and water proofs were the order of the day and I suspect a few winter vests were also being worn, such was the state of the weather.

11 teams of three ladies took to the Course on Tuesday 24th April 2012. The Weather forecast was of changeable skies but most of us managed to get round the Course without too much rain. Texas Scramble is a good team game in which the team members have to have five drives each, the other three can be from any team member.

Battling through in tough conditions, the small field did very well. Windy and damp underfoot, they did well and persevered.

Jake Willshaw came out on top with a nett 72.

Order of Merit

New season long competition- Leek's own Order of Merit.

For every qualifying Men's competition entered, the top 25 will gain points toward the order of merit. Major competitions such as Captains Day for Men, Presidents Day for Men, Birchall Bowl etc will have double points.

The first junior competition of the season saw some excellent scores, with three players recieving handicap reductions.

The weather forecast was horrendous for this day, but fortunately the forecasts was wrong & most of us made it around the course without too much rain coming down on us.

Considering the weather of previous days the course was excellent and a credit to the Ground-staff who spent time in the morning getting the gree

It was cold, it was hot, it was sunny, it was cloudy, it rained, it hailed- it could only be Leek in April!

On a mixed day there were 80 competitiors slugging it out in the Extra Medal.

There were 2 competitions this week, firstly a Prize donated by Mesdames Hollins, Evans and Cooper and played on Tuesday 10th April. Our thanks go to these Ladies for donating the prize for this Competition. Their choice of competition was to play a continuous foursomes format.

On Tuesday 3rd April we held a talk in the Clubhouse on Men's Health.

The talk was given by the Urological Surgical Consultants Specialist Team: Mr. Sammy Lui, Mr. Lyndon Gommersall, Mr. Christopher Luscombe and Sister Phyllis Dunn.

It was a well attended evening.

Another beautful day on the golf course. 39 Ladies took to the course to compete in a Prize donated by Mrs Frances Lilley and Mrs Sue Allen.
