General Club Noticeboard : Divots on Fairways

Members and guests of Leek Golf Club please help us to improve our fairways by using a divot bag.
Against the first tee is situated the rack of DIVOT BAGS and a Bin containing a mixture of soil and seed.
These are filled on a regular basis by the green staff for players to take with them so that they can fill any divots that they make or other divots they see while playing on the fairways.
Anyone using a trolley can slip one of the bags over the trolley handle and use it up over the 18 holes, for anyone carrying we realise it is not so easy to do.
If you take a divot while playing and you fill it with a seed and soil mixture afterwards you will be helping to to improve the fairways by introducing new grass into the fairways and as such doing your bit for the club.
When taking a divot if you use a divot bag there is no need to fetch back the divot and replace it.
When you replace a divot there is the chance that birds will turn over the divot and this leaves the divot exposed. Not good if it is you that happens to play your next shot out of the divot.
One of the answers given for not using a divot bag is that it is the green keepers job not mine. Ok but everything has a cost so while they are doing that and there are a lot of divots daily on the golf course they are not doing something else and we all want everything else doing.
It is one small job we members can do for the club to help to keep costs and in turn our subs down each year.
Please do your bit and encourage your playing partners to do theirs, "every little helps".
Thank You
